So, I just spent a lot of money today buying a license for the stand-alone version of Octane and the Daz Studio plugin.
Unfortunately, when I click the "Open Viewport" button in the DS Plugin, the viewport window opens and says "Building Geometry"...and it never finishes.
I just downloaded the latest versions. I have activated everything, according to the website; of course the plugin Activation on the "Octane" tab has a big red "X", even after I click the "Activation Manager" button and the Activation Manager says I'm registered...but that's a separate issue.
I tried running the stand-alone version of Octane Render and I have no problems. I can render to any size I want, I can save files, I can do everything (even though it seems to be a little slower than the demo version (?!?)).
What I can't do is use the plugin. Octane has no value for me if I can't use the plugin.
The plugin identifies my graphics card, GeForce GTX 745 - Compute model: 5.0
Down at the bottom, unfortunately, it also says, "10:11:32:238: Unknown Nvidia GPU model found ()".
As I said, I can run the stand-alone version of Octane just fine, so I know its not a gpu compatibility issue with Octane; and therefore will not be changing my gpu (I've already spent enough money on this). For some reason, the plug-in won't work.
Please help me with this problem as I have much work that I need to do. If this cannot be resolved, I would like a refund, ASAP.
Thank You
JM

I forgot to mention, this happens no matter what is in the scene or if there is nothing in the scene.
I first tried a room with a few chairs in it. Then I started a new project with just a Genesis figure in it. Then I started a new project with nothing in it. No matter what was in the scene, "Building Geometry".
Thank You

More fun. Now Daz Studio won't launch without crashing right away. So, now I can't use the Octane plugin OR Daz Studio.
No, it is not a bad Daz Studio installation. I have been using it to create numerous scenes without crashing. I've installed the 1.0 version of the Octane plugin and now it crashes whenever I launch Daz.
Getting Frustrated,

Well, I found another version of the Plugin (v.2.1)...NOT the one in my "Downloads" area. The new plugin works!
I would HIGHLY recommend to Otoy that they have some option available to download the latest plugin version. I have spent the past 7 hours trying to solve problems on a plugin version that simply didn't work (v.1.2).
Is there a reason the 2.1 version was not available for me to download from my "Downloads" area?
Thank You

Have you tried downloading the plugin materials DB cache? This needs to be downloaded before the plugin will work properly. Follow the installation instructions in this thread:

This is often where new users get stumped after they think they've set everything up correctly but still haven't d/l the cache. It's not exactly an automatic or intuitive installation process yet unfortunately. The Carrara plugin uses a different system concerning materials so that step isn't necessary.this version uses a new format for the Live DB cache, means the cache will need to be filled up again. if you have a fast internet connection and like to fill it up all at once, you may do so by: open the Live DB entry in the Materials tab, click on any item in the Live DB materials list, do CTRL-A to select all and CTRL-SHIFT-M to copy them all into the current scene; this will download all thumbnails and settings into the cache.
