Any plans for access to Local DB?

is there any chance there is a plan to be able to access Local DB from Maya? I find it much quicker to create materials in stand alone so I would love to be able to save those into the local db then access those in maya.
Intel i7-3930K, 64gb RAM, Asus X79 Deluxe mobo, 2x EVGA 780 6gb (for rendering), 1x PNY quaddro k4000 (for display)
