displacement came on 2.00 and improved until 2.06. First version had much more problems. Can be still some problems, but it's much more reliable/responsive and better on quality. Octane team is fixing the problems by help of user's reports. But currently it's little out ouf focus, because of some other new improvements.momade wrote:well. its not as easy as it seemes.... i know now that for my side the 'Error Code 3' is defenetly caused by displacementmaterials. avoiding small scalings is one thing, a simple series of 10 boole-objects (each activated in visibility for one frame, stop motion like) took me an other 3 hour to figure out. other displacemet boole object rendered without problem, even animiated ones with changing point-count. but maybe there is a limitation on the number of displacemet object in a scene? anyhow i made it work (and i dont really know how, yet i pray to god, that these frames finish today), but think twice if you want to deliver a project with many different displacement-objects, that are animated + complex.. octane is not ready for that.
i didnt mention that i even have to do some AE touch-up because (as known from other forum-threads) octane dicplacemet produced different holes in the geometry surface.

dont missunderstand. im very happy about displacement. its amazing. i just came to see its limitations during this project.
np. But If you don't fit to limits, every renderer can be unresponsible or crashing with displacement. Crashes is not real crash i think, it's a result of high computation of displacement on gpus.momade wrote:dont missunderstand. im very happy about displacement. its amazing. i just came to see its limitations during this project.

wll, the only technical thing i can say, is that neither LV or Z-GPU stated more than 1.2 GB of memoryusage, which is just the same range like the rest of the szene.
it's not a matter of memory. As i could understood well the logic of behind displacement, it's entering to high computation situation. Think it's like a very long loop and OS thinks that's stalled. Did you installed Standalone by installer or set TDR timeouts?momade wrote:wll, the only technical thing i can say, is that neither LV or Z-GPU stated more than 1.2 GB of memoryusage, which is just the same range like the rest of the szene.

i installed standalone by installer. how can i check on TDR-timeouts?

Hi slepy8,
Your problem with the crash of the Opengl, i think it's because you have make updates of your Nvidia Drivers.
Try to install an old driver version of your graphics card.
I have the same problem with my 2x TITAN BLACK, and now my viewer doesn't crash because i have install an old driver version of my graphics card.
Try this, maybe it's the solution
