I have two K5000's in my Mac Pro 2012. Card [0] and Card [1] for reference.

I've been playing around with using the cards in various combinations, but i'm not having the success I thought I would. (Although it's still been amazing aside from the noise produced when using a card in low priority mode, which is fixed but not in my current version)

I've noticed that when only rendering on card [1] in the background, I can use after effects perfectly, without any slow down at all. It's amazing, almost like having a second computer. But no matter what, Chrome is always slow, and I can't figure out why. Some other apps are also slow. Almost like they are rendering on card [1] also?

I've tried switching which card octane is rendering on, but haven't had consistent results.

My ideal situation would be to force everything on my computer to use card [0], and then only have octane using card [1].

Thanks,

hi,
how many monitors are you using and are there attached to only one card?
the k5000 is a good card but not perfect for octane, a titan black should be roughly 2x faster.

Aside from it not being the right card which is a different matter and I can't undo...

I have 2 monitors, and they are both plugged into the same card. (The card closest to the power chord on the mac pro, which I believe is slot [0])

on windows is possible to specify which application with which gpu through the nvidia control panel, but unfortunately under mac i don't think this is possible.
chrome is known to be a gpu eater, maybe you can at least change the browser ;)
