Octane Community,

The company I work for http://www.light-borne.com/ does work for some very high profile musical acts. We animate and designing their tour visuals mainly. We have a phase of the job where we travel to the rehearsal location and make changes to our work and very often make new content within a very small time frame. We are always looking for more speed because we simply don't have time to waste. Also our art director has fallen in love with the beautiful renders Octane is able to produce and change on the fly ;) These are the reasons we needed a single computer with as much render firepower as is possible that has the flexibility to travel as well.
So I commissioned https://www.maingear.com/ to build this monster! They happily took on the challenge and did a great job!

The system:
Asus X-99E WS
4x TitanZ
i7 5930K Six-Core 3.5GHz
16GB Corsair Vengeance T DDR4
Samsung 850 PRO 256GB
Dual Corsair AX 1200i

The Cooling system is all EK parts
420mm Rad on top
2 x 240mm Rads on bottom
BiTurboDual Laing D5 Vario Pumps

Now that's a nice build, Bulverk! Love it!

A bit worried about seemingly high temps on the loop (as it's nor very good for pump),
but I guess it's nothing bad - considering who put the pieces together.

Anyway for 12,7k$ & 3Years warranty for such custom build rid from respectable boutique
is not much at all. You'd have 0 warranty if doing everything Yourself =)

I also thought there would be more room for overclocking...

Very nice Rig. Do you have a backuprig in case this one fails? Do you screen the renders live?

Sick scores! Great looking build, great performer. Love the sleeving, overall aesthetics.

My only concern here are temps, not gpu, but water temps. As Glimpse said, Maingear Guys know what they're doing and looking at their website - they are true passionate. Overall radiator capacity for 8 gpus + cpu is only 8 units here - I have more for 4 gpus. As you look at D5 pump specs they operate to 60C, so getting close to this limit may cause problems. Anyway 4xTitans Z are on my list :)

Enjoy rendering on this great machine!

Very very nice machine, I am very jealous :D.
The thing that I am always wondering is, why not buy 2 cheaper ones. You could make a machine that is 40% less fast (Direct Light Cr: 0.0 220 Ms/s) for a prices around 4000 dollar. Buy two of them use network rendering and you have way more powerfull machine for around 8000 dollars.

Polder, you are definitely right from a pure financial point of view. And I would add to that the very real benefit of having a backup machine if one dies or gets damaged (or, erm, leaks). But Bulwerk gave a good reason - one machine travels better than 2.

That does not make any of us less jealous though...
