Hi guys,

Currently I'm working on a shower design project for college, the final presentation is in 2 weeks and I've done some renders (octane standalone)
v 1.55 (still... :? )
How could I improve the reality and noise of the renders? Materials, lighting...
These ones are rendered: PMC, 5K s/px, Full HD with a single gtx780Ti, took about 1 hour and 20 minutes average.

In the 1st one I'm using 10 IES lights (mesh opacity 0%) around the perimeter of the walls and another normal light source after the windows portal material along with a nightsky HDRI, as soon I get some critics I'm going to change the screen material to emision when on low light, just to be seen. Furthermore, I aim to add a texture to the projector with different colors to light the wall in more than one color to create a cool cromotherapy effect.

The last ones have less noise in "day mode" daylight environment + light source after the windows portal material (opacity 0%).

Please criticize in any way,
It'll help me a lot! :D
And ideas are accepted!

how do you light 3rd picture?

You should let the sun naturally light the whole room...
I also find there is too much bump everywhere.

Good luck, keep up the good work

To light the 3rd render like the 2nd I'm using a daylight environment and a boost light from the windows transparent emissive window. Also I have 2 windows in the part where is not seen by the render.
The teacher told us to change a bit the design so next time I'll share the renders at the final work forum.

Maybe the bump is one of the reasons I can't get a clear render at the 1st one so I'll follow your advice.
Thanks, heartlessphil

Can you use the octane material library or since it's a school project you have to do it all yourself? I usually take my mats in the library and tweak them. Most of the time I change the scale, the bump amount. Most of these materials are very good.

Yup, I can use the materials library. This is the way I go, and then I customize them to my taste. But if I need to add textures like the screen one I pick up a raw one and start from the beginning. :D
