Hello,
I am using Cinema 4D r15 and octane c4d plugin 2.06. In my scene I use 32bit hdr image file but shadows are so soft and barely noticeable. Is there a way to control density and softness of the shadows of an HDRI image as I can do in the daylight tag :?: I also wonder if I can use both daylight and an hdri image. Thank you.

Does the HDR have a sun or other high intensity point of light? My guess is that there just isn't enough contrast, such that light is coming from all over the place.
Yes, you can have daylight and HDR at once. Add both a Sky with octane environment tag, and Sun with octane daylight flag.
Then turn on "mix sky texture" on the daylight tag.

You might also need to change the gamma of your loaded HDRI to 2.2 (sometimes this is needed depending on the image).

Thanks. As I understand I need a high intensity point in the hdr image so that I can control the density of the shadows.

By the way I have uploaded the hdri that I am using and two different test images. One with hdri environment which is lack of shadows and the other with daylight tag which I would like to achieve with hdr image. Is it possible?

I don't think it will be possible with that HDRI. You could try increasing the gamma but i'm doubtful.
Also, i'm guessing your HDRI is not in .jpg format (this was just to get it to show on the forum)? It needs to be in a format that can handle high dynamic range, otherwise there is even less contrast between bright and dark.
