Hi,
exported a simple triangulated cube from c4d with riptidePro.
I then launched "Octane-Demo", but as soon as I click on the imported
"mesh-node" Octane closes/crashes to desctop without any warning!
MacPro / 8x 3,2 Ghz / 20 Gig Ram / Win7 64 / Ati HD3850 + GForce 8800 GT /
Have the latest nvisia driver 197.45 installed and of in Octane there is only the
8800GT Card active.
Tried allready a lot of obj-export-setting without any luck! Still crashing
Any help why this is not working?
thanks
mike

Hi pjalbert,
thanks for your reply! I will test this!
But this could not be the best and a final solution.
I need to work with 2 Monitors and a third FullHD-TV.
But I'm thinking about replacing the ATI-Card by maybe a GTX 285.
(Mac Edition, cause I'm tired of trying to flash PC-Cards for Mac)
Or should I wait for an hopefully upcoming GTX 480 for Mac?
Have you any recommendations?
regards
mike

Hi Mioh,
for what I have heard the GTX 480 is an awesome card. I believe for it to work under the MAC OS you will have to do some hacking for it to work. Even thou you might have some compatibility issues, but I am not sure about that because some guys have it running perfectly under MAC OS.
If I where you I would go for the GTX 480 anyway and run it under windows, or try some of the methods described on google for it to work on the MAC OS.
best of luck

did you installed the toolkit too?
if you did so maybe you have some corrupted installation due to the ATI card (then removed)... maybe you could try to reinstall?

Well, with dxdiag I see, that my ATI Card is driving
Monitor 1 and Monitor 2. And my GT8800 is driving my Sony-LCD-TV.
(I set it up this way I remember now)
So first, I thought, that the Octane is not closing to desktop, but
went maybe to the LCD-Screen which was shut off. - But unfortunately not.
When disabling the ATI-Card, I then have only 1 Screen displaying on both monitors, cause only
the NVidia Card is active, but cannot launch Octane
It is not so important for the moment now, I just read about Octane and
wanted to try it out. But anyway! I always get mad when something does not work!!!!
(Btw. I first installed only new driver for the NVidia-Card, when I for the firsttime got the message of no CUDa-Card installed.
Then Octane launched. After the first crash I installed the Toolkit on top. After still crashing I deinstalled all nvidia and installed again
only the new 195.45 driver, which has the Cuda-capability built in I heard)
thanks
