I've been excited to see Next Limit quit being stubborn and finally looking into GPU rendering! Having said that, the team said this is just a prototype (aka pre pre pre alpha) and it likely wouldn't be implemented for years to come till they felt like GPUs were up to the task (whatever the hell that means)
I used Maxwell for YEARS but the stubbornness of the team really started to annoy me over time which is why I switched over to Octane. I don't have any data to back it up, but it feels like much of the Maxwell community is frustrated as well...forum activity has been nearly dead for over a year now. I really love Maxwell so I hope they change their ways before they alienate too much their customer base.

now I wasn't expecting this move =) at AD4 in Italy a year ago I asked a Guy who presented Maxwell weather they have any plans to introduce GPU powered version, but he replied that their company sees GPU as too limiting =DDD clearly he didn't know the mind of developers/marketing Guys =)..
I don't see any engine that could stagy in the market without switching at least partly to GPU..it's too naive to stay on market without leveraging GPUs..

Best of Maxwell is are the lesne options. This really makes an image kick off.

agree on that, but there multi light features is even more interesting to me =) anyway..kinda curious when they are going to make this engine fully capable on GPUs =) guess it's going to take long time..Check Vray for instance, it seems that they don't even bother..though started long ago..I assume this maxell's GPU implementations is going to be for preview purpose only, like vray's..mbetke wrote:Best of Maxwell is are the lesne options. Might be a while but I think it seems they are taking it seriously.
I've seen it when it got less than 100 views =) Guys are living legends =)Obizzz wrote:Did you see this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1V8h7fsYmEglimpse wrote:.Check Vray for instance, it seems that they don't even bother..though started long ago..
