Did a quick test scene with assets I had on my pc (furniture model by juraj talcik). Materials pretty much all comes from Octane DB, settings are defaults.
Pathtracing @ 60000 samples/pixel....after 7 hours you can see ALOT of flies but what are those strange stars lol? Thanks for the help!

Thank you, my post process was off in the render settings but ON, in the camera stettings. Must be that.
Is it normal I get that many fireflies with 60k samples tho? after 7 hours rendering. It's a pretty basic setup...

I re-rendered the same image with the PMC kernel. I went overkill a bit, 6 max depth, 87 000/100 000 samples, filtersize 1.0
went to bed, 15 hours later my image was pixel perfect. 0 firefly, shadows looks great!
Does PMC usually produces equal - inferior or superior images than pathtracing?
thanks. Loving the renderer so far.
Also, currently running all this on a single gtx 670. What kind of maximum resolution can I expect to be able to render with that 2 gb only (I know it depends on scene size, materials, etc) but I'll probably need to render in high-res often (4k, 8k) for Arch Viz. Will eventually switch for a gtx titan black or gtx 980 probably.

PMC does a better job at resolving caustics (light through glass) because it has some logic about what ray paths to spend more time on.
For a 8k render (8192 x 8192) you need 1.3GB for the render target alone, not leaving much left for your scene or windows UI etc. But it's possible if your scene is not large.
4k render target is about 650MB. If you start using render passes this will get bigger.

Thank you FoOze, starting to get the grasp of the engine. I succesfully rendered my scene (simple) at 8k...image was very good after 3500ish samples with PMC!!!
I'm going to update to a gtx 980 4GB and for the rest, I Hope i'll be able to count on the cloud
Are you guys going to offer some discount around christmas for the renderer + plugin
??
