I wish I knew this before buying my 780 card last week. I was going to buy the 980 but it was suggested that it would be a bad idea at the moment for Octane. Arrrrgh. Face palm.

The 780's are still faster than a 980 and if you have the 6 GB version, more memory. :)

True and I wish I did lol. In time. I plan on rigging up a modest GPU box with 4 cards eventually. :-)

You're not the only one. i did buy one 10 days ago :) I had doubts too but now i'm happy with 780 (6Gb) so i can use full of 6Gb with my Titan.

780s ( Strix models, EVGA dual fan models ) are superior in cooling characteristics to 980 stock cooler so that is one more plus.
