Hello
I have a dual pc xeon 2680 with nvidia video board 780 gtx Gigabyte , all under windows seven 64 bits , cinema 4 d r15, octane render 2.13 and c4d plug 2.06
I d'like to add 2 new video Board, I must add 2 780 GTX to have the 3 same video Board, or can I add other video i'm tinkling about Asus GTX TITAN Black 6Go GDDR5, or GTX 780 TI.... Or anyone have a good idea for me....
Best regards

hi,
there's no good or bad board =) just the one that fit's Your need. if You need more vRAM, then going for 6GB model is a wise choise..780 (6GB) that offered good value is out of shelfs & hard to find, & that leaves You with TitanBlack or TitanZ. Price for Z recently droped & it start maing a sense. Pluss this card is dual GPU (runs almost as fast as 2xTitanBlack), but it's only 3x slot spacing (compared to four slots if You take 2x dual slot TitanBlacks)..- so it depends how much space You have in Your case.
if You don't need much of vRam & You can go to any model that fits Your need..- You can mix any cards, but remember that that scene should fit into every GPU's vRAM, so, if You have 3gb card & then 4GB & 6GB - wish to render with all of them..3GB will be the max limit =) or You have to leave lower specced card to stay idle..simply put..VRAM doesn't add to each other & You always limited the card that has least amount of it =)
telling a bit more of what You're looking to do, what resolutions You're us sully working, how heavy are Your meshes would help You to recomend something specific to Your needs =) also, get a photo of Your case or list Your hardware..probably You might need not only GPU, but maybe PSU or Your Motherboard might not be able to house two extra cards & it would be wise to get Dual GPU card instead =) there's a lot of things to consider, even airflow in the case as it effects rendering performance =DDD..not kidding.

You can add and mix all Cuda cards but keep in mind GPU ram is not added.
If you have a 3 GB card and add a Titan with 6 GB you can only use 3 GB if you render with both cards.
You need a very big power supply for 3 cards.
Cheers, mib

SO... i will follow your idea, i take The Gigabyte GTX TITAN Z 12Go GDDR5....
thank's for your information
thank's for your information
keep in mind that it's Dual GPU card & it has not 12GB but 2x6GB as Octane should load scene into each portion of VRAM. It's triple slot (not dual like most cards) so be sure You have plenty of space to plug it & powerful enough power supply - think around 400W You should leave for this card alone =)icevalleycorp wrote:SO... i will follow your idea, i take The Gigabyte GTX TITAN Z 12Go GDDR5....

Hi,
I have a cosmos 2 case, and only One Card.... and a power supplies of 1000 w cooler master M2,
Tell me maybe it's better to remove the 780 Gtx and Add 1 or 2 Nvidia Titan Z, because you tall me octane align the use of the Vram on the lower One, so et don't use the 6Go+6Go of the Titan Z... Just 3 Go
If i have only Titan Z does he use All the Vram?

Technically Your test scenes with lower amount of geometry & haven't been with textures probably going to fit 3GB - in that case You can render let's say with all cards & then turn of 3GB card, use it only for monitor & leave let's say Z to render. However 1000W is not enough for extra 2Zs, but enough for two of them if You get rid of Your card. The question what motherboard You have. If it's enough to space two Zs =)
If You use TitanZ, Octane sees it as two separate GPU's so You can use let's say one, for screen & so..after You end up to setup the scene You can activate Your "monitor card" (half of Z) to render on both GPUs =)
So what would be the advice..Get one Z, if You can afford, & then wait =) use Your card for screen(s) of sometimes enable it if You have smaller scenes. Then look at what Maxwell is going to bring..probably we should see some new card in the beginning of next year.
if You're in a hurry & really need a lot of vRAM, let's say for big resolution & very heavy models..then get two Zs =)

Thank's for your explanation, i understand everything, and how octane works with the video board, now...
My mother is a ASUS Z9 PE D8 DWS, for Dual Xeon

I want to change all my video Board what do you think about
GTXTITANX-12GD5 - GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB
Or did you have another proposition?
Best regards
Ben
