hi guys.

im going to make the switch to DAZ, been using poser for 2 years and its become such a lag fest with G2 i cant take it anymore

that said, i downloaded the 2.1 version of the plugin, when go to activate it seems my 1.x daz plugin version wont work, do i need to buy 2.x now to get this to activate?

Yes, any plugin that is 2.x based needs a new 2.x license from Otoy.
