i have a 4gb gtx 770 right now but i'm loving the plugin so i want to get a faster card alongside this one.
i can't find any 6gb 780 ti's (heard it's the best bang for the buck), don't know if the 3gb is sufficient (might have more complex scenes in the future)
should i wait on titan 2 (reportedly near over 3000 cudas, maxwell archi, 12gb of vram)
or get a titan black right now (even if it came out last february)?
i've read kepler outperforms maxwell for octane atm but that otoy are trying to harness the power of maxwell in the future.
any ideas? maybe other options i've missed?
i got around a 1000$ budget on this.
thanks!
new card ideas?

I would see if you can find a Titan Z for ~ $1000, they hard to come by but I just saw one on Amazon for $900
Also there is no 780Ti 6gb in existence, only 780s came in 6gb for a short time and they are extremely hard to find at this point. Since GM204 launched with only 4gb of vram it has made all of the GK110s with 6gb disappear

A TitanZ for $900? Are you sure? Wasn't that a regular Titan, a Titan Black or something?mossberg385t wrote:I would see if you can find a Titan Z for ~ $1000, they hard to come by but I just saw one on Amazon for $900 ...

Yes, that is correct.miohn wrote:Titan Z has 2 chips with 6GB each. Right?
Does this mean, that Octane can only use 6 GB?

If you need 6gb, and you can not get your hands on a 7806b,
Then TitanZ is a very good option if you can get your hands on it for €1500.
The performance is like two Titan Blacks, which are more expensive and need more slots.

so, octane would only use one of the 6gb slots tho...seems like a waste
would it still use all 5000 comething cudas tho?

No, it is not a waste... I hope I can explain better now:joeydbooth wrote:so, octane would only use one of the 6gb slots tho...seems like a waste

A Titan Black uses two pci slots on the mothernoard.
A TitanZ uses three slots.
One TitanZ has appr. the same renderpower for Octane as two Titan Blacks.
And two Titan Blacks are more expensive then one TitanZ (which is in fact one videocard with 2 gpu on it with 6gb each)
Octane reads the TitanZ as being two gpu of 6gb, and not like a videocard with 12gb like for gaming,
But Octane uses all cudacores of the TitanZ
Imo the TitanZ is better then two Titan Blacks, because it is cheaper, uses less space on your motherboard (you can create good airflow leaving one slot on motherboard empty) and as said it has same results in Octane as two Titan Blacks!!!
