Hi guys, this has nothing to do with Octane plugin but I figure you all use poser with it lik ei do.

I am trying to use G2 with Poser and am at wits end with lagg and crashing even setting subD to 0 before rendering. I assume some of you are using G2 in Poser, how do you deal with lag or are you seeing lag? Its got so bad im now learning DAZ (I got a license for that plugin bu that seems to be a train wreck reading the forums)

I got a ne wsystem to do animations on,32 gig of ram, 2 i7 Procs and 2 Titan Black GPUs and Poser with G2 is nearly unusable. Move a limb wait 2-5 sec before its actually moving.

Any ideas before I nail on Poser?

Hey,

totally feeling your pain here.
Although not completely useless, Poser has becoming more and more unstable with the newer generation of figures and characters DAZ3D has been throwing at it.
As you already mentioned it's getting extremely bad when your subD is set to 3 (which is what you need to do in order to take full advantage of HD morphs)

I usually just reduce the subD to 0, and that does the trick to me really well.
My working colleague here, just recently completely reinstalled Poser and that brought him a HUGE performance boost while working inside Poser - not sure what might have caused that.
I guess regularly defragmenting the hdd Poser is installed on helps a lot.

But that's pretty much all the tips I can give you, I guess.

Hope it helps - at least a bit.

thanks for the response T, im learning DAZ but wont use DAZ octane due to the awful progress or lack of on teh plugin, im going to try and learn daz to pose and set up then export to maya and use the octane plugin for maya, see how that works out. Now make some Maya useable skins ;l)

Poser is killing me, wish they would keep up with o rmake Poser usable with G2 figures.

Genesis and its follow ups require DSON. DSON is an intermediate layer between Poser and genesis which makes things very slow. Poser is fast enough with any other figure, so it is not Poser which is causing the slowness.
About Poser implementing more support for genesis: Genesis has frequent updates which require a new DS version. It would be impossible to follow that up in Poser.
So if you want to use genesis, use DS. Poser is going into another direction.

Genesis with DSON in Poser does work in Octane and the plugin - it is just very slow if you add more figures

Thanks, yea I have DSON installed and all, can get the figures in poser but yea its dumb slow.

What direction is Poser going to, Ive not seen much in the way of poser figures that compare to G2 for detail and mesh resolution.

I do use SUBD +1 on v4 but still she is really outdated compared to G2.

Ill prob go DAZ for G2

I am actually using a G2F in my latest set as a sort of test run. It actually is not all that bad all things considered.

I have the Sub-D set to 0 and then when I push it to Octane I am using Poser Unimesh - Body SubD 1. This may be an ass backwards way to do it, but the results are pretty nice.

THE ONLY weird thing that has happened, is sometimes the G2F will forget what UV's it is using. I started with Olympia and it likes to switch back to V6 or Base Female UV's.

Weird.

I've used G2 in Poser & yes it slows to a crawl. My wierdness happens when converting 1 light or multiple(to emitters)with the Octane script.Poser just sits there thinking for ever till I restart it.
