as you can see in the images attached in octane im getting a baloon effect

one render is poser render and the other is octane
my version is 2.11.1.32

i tried everything (changed level of detail, height, offset) nothing seems to work...

Hi - I cannot see the balloon effect - could you point the specific problem out pls? There is no direct conversion between the Poser displacement amount and the Octane displacement amount - so you need to adjust to suit. Set the Offset in the Octane displacement to half the negative Amount value (so if Amount = 0.01, Offset = -0.0005). What Amount/Offset values are you using?

In that picture the balloon effect is most noticeable in the nose. I've had this issue also, but now that you've mentioned setting the offset to negative one-half of the height value, I've done a quick test using the same displacement maps as the original poster and it seems to fix it. :)

Here is a picture for reference (click to see full size):

I have updated the manual, adding the following to http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Poser/?page_id=298.

Octane uses displacement maps where black maps to a 0 displacement, so when using Poser displacement maps with a 0 displacement mapped to grey, you should set the Octane Displacement Offset to negative half the value of the Height. For example, if the Displacement Height is 0.01 you may need to set the Offset to -0.005.
