The OSX version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed coordinate space bug in Projection nodes (reported by aLeXXtoR).
  • Fixed modified geometry bug (reported by RajivMudgal).
  • Improved license activation proccess. Now you have the separate "Octane server" rollout.
  • Linux libs are now included into Linux installer package.
  • Minor fixes...

Installation:
- Just run autoinstaller file.

Thanks for the new package Jim. I removed my "blender" (2.72) folder from Applications and ran the new .pkg installer. However after finisihing the installation I only got the OctaneServer executable available and Blender didn't get installed. I also got blender 2.71 installed in a "Blender_271" folder and blender's 2.49 executable as "blender_249" (I use it for its DXF importer, it's the best so far). Might they be confusing the installer pkg? Should I also remove them?

regards,

Alvaro

OK, I've just removed any and every trace of blender in my applications folder and reinstalled the .pkg but the result was the same, I only get the OctaneServer executable installed but no signs of blender anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Regards, and thanks for any help.

Just search in Finder for "blender.app" all over the Mac.

Thanks Jim, I already found out what my error was. It occurs that besides the different versions I had in my "Applications" folder, I also compile blender from source in my "downloads" folder. The pkg installer somehow also found this installation and was trying to use it. I deleted the source and the binaries and now, without any trace whatsoever of blender on my system, I reinstalled and I got both "OctaneServer" and "blender" created properly in my "applications" folder. I just authorized the plugin and it's working fine now. A bit cumbersome, but if you don't have any versions of blender installed the installation should be pretty straightforward.

off to run some tests on Mac :D

Alvaro
