Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Version 2015 64-bit on Linux operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • Switched to Maya 2015 ext1 sp5 for Linux.
  • Few minor fixes.

Installation:
- Just run the installer to see its command line keys.;)

This version is definitely compiled against 2015 Ext1 SP5. :? I especially requested this version from our central branch and extracted the SDK from it.
So, the issue may be somewhere else... I will investigate it at Monday.
The plugin is compiled on CentOS 6.

Hi

The system we have is Centos 7 since Centos 6.5 had no support for GLIBC_2.14 error.
That's why we switched to Centos 7.
I would find it good if you also under Linux Octane Render for Maya 2014 - 20.. would support and not only Windows systems. :(

You could always check this thread

Code: Select all

http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=42971
but in someway i would agree that it would be good to have support for maya 2014-201x in the *.run file. Im not sure how your environment setup looks like but if you have the SDK builds of maya 2014-201x installed this should be trivial to recompile for different maya versions, but i might be wrong.

Many linux folks are using 2014 aside 2015 due to changes in the API and viewport 2.0 issues.

We are running CentOS 6.5 here by the way. If i could help somehow let me know.

Try to re-download the installer file from the header of the thread, and install the plugin again. Should be OK now.

You are not first having this trouble. It is why I added these "sanity checks" to eliminate the Maya's user interface bug which I mentioned earlier:
JimStar wrote:Maya has stupid UI which does not switch the focus from the input field if you press the UI button when this field is active. You must explicitly get out from the field by "Tab" or by "Enter" to lose its focus. And before the field loses focus - it does not change the attribute which is bound to it... Stupid, but I can't change it - it's how Maya's UI works...:(
So, in your case - you had the ID attribute set, but the password attribute not set when pressed the "Activate" button.
So, now if the login or password attribute is empty - you will see this error. Just set the both attributes properly before pressing "Activate" button.

Hi Jim,

thanks for the update. Seems to load and register fine so far.
I personally have the follwoing issue where i post a screen to help out.
Image

Do you see the render settings and the Cuda Devices Tab?
Im not able to see and/or choose anything here.
I can open and close the arrow -> GPU Config menu inside Cuda Devices but that does nothing for me.
Im afraid our NVIDIA K6000 is not recognized correctly.
