That's how we've decided to sell the bolt on's, even though there's no actual programming logic to it.

Hi, Yes, the price for the 3ds max plugin is 459EUR, since you don't already own a standalone license.
Only one standalone license is required per machine, so if you want an additional plugin like maya or some such on the same machine, it will not cost the full amount for that, all you will need is the plugin license, because you already have the required standalone one.
The licensing was designed like this to make multiple plugins more affordable for those with more than one host 3d app on their machines.
Would it make sense to pay full price for every plugin you want, when the core of the software is essentially the same code/work?
Think of the standalone license as covering core octane development costs, and the plugin license as covering the plugin development costs (which is a complex wrapper for the octane core rendering engine).
You will get two licenses for 459EUR, a standalone license and a 3ds max plugin license.
You put the plugin license into the plugin and click activate, then it should pop-up a box asking for your standalone license. Without both of these licenses, the plugin will not work.
You can move the licenses from machine to machine once per hour (as many times as you like) by deactivating the licenses via the customer area of the website, but you can't have the license on both machines at the same time.
Thanks
Chris.
