backward compability is broken since a few versions, there is nothing to do for me. Too many things are changed on livedb,etc..
I had to break support for older versions. Will not be available a new version 1.5xx. Sorry for that

to get the effect You need the pattern =) make it in photoshop or any other program. Then You choose glossy material, add the pattern in the bump slot - this will give You (anisotrophic like reflection) on strands. In most cases carbon finer is covered in some protective layer, so if You want it to like like that, make other glossy material & mix it with previous. so practically very simple material (good bump map is crucial).
post some wips & we'll help You out!
Thanks Aoktar and glimpse for the reply
firstly thanks glimpse for the tips, you just helped me out. a guide is all i need. usually i just take the sample in livedb to learn and modify.
Aoktar, how much to upgrade to octane render 2.0 now? do i need to buy both the standalone and plugin? or plugin alone? didn't manage to buy during the promotion because i was in short of money.

exactly =) the trick is not to use just rectangular pattern in a bump. Carbon finer has directional (anisotrophic) reflections (like INOX) & because of it's structure (and the way it's made) this material picks light in a very interesting way =) try to look at reference images & You'll understand what I mean.rodross wrote:Carbon Fiber is more reactive to viewing angle. You shouldn't see every square from any angle. You might try playing with popping that texture in the specular channel. It has almost a fresnel to it in real life.
i will thinker a bit later.I think it looks decent. people arent going to notice when its projected using a projector XD
but im curious, can you show me a good carbon fiber render?
