I am using max to export objects and have no problems except with smoothing groups.

in octane object are grouped by their materials, you can have 100 objects in max but if they all have the same material they will be considered one object once imported in octane.

Found out something interesting now. exported a sphere with a texture map on it to Octane, the texture map loaded up in Octane as it should. Material was set to a diffuse material in Octane. Added a spec map in max, and turned up the spec level a bit. Exported it to Octane again and it ended up like a specular material in Octane, with no texture maps. Tryed again without adjusting the spec level in max, and the material ended up like a diffuse material with the diffuse texture map loaded but not the spec map.

This is a bit strange isent it ? :)

I used a standard material in max

I tried the Maya preset like "Radiance" said... still just one material.

sam75: I have 4 different materials in the max scene.

Chris: Very strange indeed, Also I notice if I dont convert my object to Editable Mesh... I have alot of strange triangulation

Convert to poly also gave this strange result, not allways doh

Found out one thing regarding the textures. The textures you are going to use in max, put them in one folder. When you export to obj, save that obj file in the same folder you have your textures that you asigned in max. That should solve the texture problems. I`l give you settings for export in just a sec that works for me

Heres my OBJ export settings:

Put textures and OBJ file in same folder, use a standard material with only one texture. If you do that i see no reason for it not to work ;)
