Im about to completely switch from 3dmax to Maya and i wondered if i can trade my Octane_3dMax-License for a Octane_Maya License? Or do I have to buy a new License ?

No, sorry, we don't transfer licenses between products.

I'd be interested in the thinking behind not having a transfer policy?

Rather than lose a user completely.

Looking to do the same as well. Most options out there will allow you to use a license on any application for free. and even provide free plugins. Granted octane is cheaper but switching or exchanging would be nice. You never know when a plugin is going to become obsolete like the one for softimage.
