Is there a way to randomly assign materials to a mesh?
- yeah I thought of doing something like that but there's are a bunch of scripts on scriptspot that do that already
- you can also try max built in random poly select in graphite tools and select at random and assign materials..
- the script is sort of the missing link between other max scripts and octane, and a quick helper

- thanks for the feedback guys, I'll be glad if you use it in your regular workflow, I never leave home without it

yes, a few tricks to do that, I didn't add it as a menu button thing cause I don't use it like that..

- but you can do this quick one - open script via script editor - select all, drag that selection onto a toolbar next to a button - it should just change it into a button, I keep it inside script startup folder so it autoruns

- nice to hear you're using it..
- I just might upgrade stuff - I did 90% of the script in a week or two - and then just had no motivation to add more stuff after I got stuck, it would be twice as big :)

- I'd really like to add something like default HDRI from the octane sample pack, and started working on automatic camera bubble for when using volumetrics via SSS shader etc.. but since some features stopped working I left it here..

BTW just discovered this script "Procedural baker"

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scrip ... xturebaker

- you can add standard max procedural maps - convert with this script - and then it will bake to a desired folder and you can convert material and use it inside octane

- I was just thinking there should be a way to use those procedural max materials inside octane as well - and use a script for that - this is just the thing to get it started
- and the script is open - maybe I can modify it to use octane..

- Karba can probably do that with the plugin, but the baking takes a few seconds.. but it can be done, this is cool, noticed c4d plugin already does that
