from what i've read so far it seems to me that reason why gtx 980 is performing worse then gtx 780 in octane atm is due to lower amount of cuda cores and update in drivers might fix that.
gtx 970 has more cuda cores then 770 so even without update in drivers i'm hoping it would give better results, but i have been unable to find any benchmarks posted by octane users.
i've got only a couple of hours left to decide and i'm leaning towards gtx 970
pls warn me if i'm making a mistake
buying new gfx today > 770 or 970

hard to say about 970 when & if Octane will be optimised for that =) so..it's just plain gamble..
p.s. if You wish I'm selling 670 SC (4gb) from EVGA due to an upgrade, used but I'll give it for way better price =)
if You're interested, simply from a PM =)

Regarding Maxwell (900 series) I would recommend to wait until we had time to do some proper testing / tweaking. We will look into the new GPUs next week and we will let you know of the outcome.

thx for replys
i had to make a purchase and i've decided to go with 970. considering it outperforms 770 in every review i've read and that it has more cuda cores, i'm confident that it won't be far behind 770 in octane. hopefully it's better in octane too.
i'll post results in octane benchmark thread once my pc is assembled and delivered, sometime next week
