This is just a quick question to you Octane users out there to see if you have the same problem i've been experiencing.
I've worked with octane on about 4 different computers ( all macs) from laptop to mac pro. On all of them i find when working with octane i get about 1-2 hard freezes per day.
Thats the kind of freeze where the whole system locks up and i have to hold the power button to reset.
Has anyone else out there had the same experience? If so has anyone else found a way around it.
One common factor is that all the systems i worked on where macs and had only one gfx card. Do you think 2 cards might resolve the problem so that the OS isn't sharing the card for screen display?
Thanks for your thoughts.
HARD reset caused by Octane.

i think you are right since i never see a total freeze of Os X, here and there some unexpected closing of the app. but nothing more
but i have always used octane with one GPU dedicated to display.
one trick you can try is to reduce the display resolution for reducing the Vram usage, but it's not the best

I'm not expert for HW, but should be a "driver" or "gpu stability problem" there

I've been having similar issues on our 2010 Mac Pro with a 680 card. I changed which nvidia drivers we were using and that helped a little. On our PC with 4 titans I haven't had a single lock up, so I want to say it is something to do with only having 1 video card or with OS X and cuda.

mac guys with only one CARD, are you checking free vram amounts? Macosx looks like consumes much big amount of it, also other programs.

Hi there,
from time to time I also have freezes, sometimes along with shutdown, similar to Kernel Panic. Here is a crash report from today (MacBook Pro) attached. I checked free video RAM later and it didn't seem to short.
Also I had the same issues with a 2012 Mac Pro and a Netstor GPU-Expander. Since I do not use it anymore, I have no more freezes.
Nevertheless, it is great to work with Octane within Cinema 4D, thank you very much for your work Aoktar!

Hi, yes i have the same problem.
i upgraded to sierra and gtx 1070 and have a lot of hard shutdowns when running octane.
first there is a short freeze of the mouse then it automatically restarts.
i already tryed every combination, also with the old card gtx780....can´t find a solution.
only one webdriver avalable, i tested all cuda down to 8.0.71 where octane loses the card...always the same
osx 10.12.5
latest cuda and webdriver
octane 3.06.2
any ideas what i could check next?
thx
