soon I will post a video where I can move tons of trees, people, a large sea, proxies, boats, several displacements, heavy geometries all in realtime with the latest Octane for Max.
the rt feedback in Octane is 10X compared to Corona if you use 4 Titan gpus.
I've tested the latest Keyshot (Embree based) on my dual Xeon 6 cores, the realtime render is not comparable to Octane, specially in interiors.
Octane has no rivals, specially the latest version.

maybe in max you can move tons of geomety. In cinema 4d is a pain. Maybe the "glory" of octane is limited by the c4d viewport...

are you able to change parameters to scatter in real time without the need of restart the render ?
my most pain in octane right now is converting hundreds of materials from libraries, i spend more time with materials than with the render, that is wy i decided to go and use corona with the nice converter, and spend a little more time rendering and almost no time tweaking materials.

This to me is the biggie... I also like Corona. I like that scatter is built is (hello Otoy?) and the speed seems great now. But I love the idea of being able to add to my rendering speed if/when I can afford it by just getting another card and plugging it into the network somewhere. I must add though that the fact Otoy has not embraced Maxwell with the fervor that it used to and that I think a GPU app developer should, is a bit of a concern for me. And also the fact that they limit network rendering to 12 GPU's (why oh why?). Hope they keep the speed focus for local usage and don't transition us all to 'cloud cuckoo land'. And, while I'm on a roll here, I'm soon going to start selling T-shirts that read: "Where's my Brigade?".riggles wrote:adding or upgrading GPU hardware can be considerably easier and cheaper.

because Karba is the creator of Multiscatter he could port his technology in Octane with realtime scattering.lixai wrote:@gabrielefx

The Corona scattering rt video is nothing special.
BTW Corona is a good renderer programmed by one single person. I used it for a big project, impossible to load into a gpu.

Wasn't there something about shared memory some time ago?gabrielefx wrote:...If only I have 32GB of vram...

shared memory we'll probably not going to see until new GPUs going to hit the market - nVidia talked about it's plans making some communication possible =) but it's definitely not coming with Maxwell =p & that of the core capability that OTOY presented as I understand will not work for entire scene (but I might be wrong).RobSteady wrote:Wasn't there something about shared memory some time ago?gabrielefx wrote:...If only I have 32GB of vram...
