Speed improvements: approximately 25%

They've obviously spent a good deal of time and effort developing their algorithms. Also, it can combine both unbiased and biased modes (or use one or the other). I can't tell from this video if it's strictly unbiased here or using a combination, but if so I'd guess irradiance caching is only used for one bounce since there's no splotchiness going on. If it's all brute force, even better, considering this is on a 6-core machine.jagger wrote:Im very interested in this stuff.

How can it be that fast? Could it rival octane?
If you've already got a beefy CPU, there could be no point. But there are two things that go in the GPUs favor: 1) parallel processing power seems to be increasing in GPUs at a rate that CPUs used to, and 2) adding or upgrading GPU hardware can be considerably easier and cheaper.jagger wrote:But I mean, the thing of the gpu is that it is fast, faster than cpu.
but now, if the cpu with corona can reach octane then whats the point?
