Update / Edit:

To save you a long read the solution is:

For existing customers your will need to go to the license upgrade page here:
http://render.otoy.com/account/upgrade_license.php

If you purchased your standalone upgrade soon after it was released (with the free plugin upgrade deal) then it should tell you that you have a voucher at the bottom of the upgrade page. Just tick your license and click proceed, it should automatically use the voucher, upgrade your license and not ask for payment.
I will edit this post when the upgrade product is available.

EDIT: The license upgrade is now available (2014/09/16 23:35:00 GMT)

Thanks
Chris.

ok, so:

if you have purchased the 2.0 upgrade prior to aug. 11, it is eligible for a free 2.0 plugin license;

if you haven't yet requested a voucher/free license for any plugin (including ocds), pls write an email with your account details (license number/s) to [email protected], and otoy is going to sort that out with you.

if you have requested a free ocds 2.0 upgrade already prior 08.11., you should have got a voucher for the 2.0 license in your account.

in any case, if you have troubles with licensing, pls contact otoy at [email protected] ro get help...

- made a copy of DAZ Studio folder and called it "DAZ Studio OcDS Preview"
- run that DS version once
- made backup of OctaneRender/Data
- run the installer "OcDS_Preview.exe"
- selected 2.x
- selected the DAZ Studio OcDS Preview installation path
- closed the installer as prompted to run the activation

Unfortunately I failed to run the activation process for the 2.x preview version.

When running the activation I got the error message:

This plugin account (XXXXXXX) is not valid for version 2.x

I assume that I would have to upgrade the plugin to 2.x.

But how and where do I actually upgrade the plugin?

I tried to look in the "Buy" section for the DAZ Studio plugin.

http://render.otoy.com/shop/DAZ_Studio_plugin.php

But could not find anything on the purchase page of the DAZ Studio plugin about a 2.x upgrade.

I had purchased the 2.x license right at release and I thought one free plugin upgrade was included?

In the Account Area Purchases and Invoices all I can see is:
Invoice XXXXX : Date 2014-06-10 (status paid) [print invoice]

1× OctaneRender™ Standalone 1.x to 2.x license upgrade : 99 Eur.
There is not mention of any voucher or any plugin upgrade under Purchases and Invoices as well.

Any ideas where I should look and what I have to do to make this 2.x preview work?
Sorry, the license upgrade is not available yet. I will be sorting this out today. For existing customers your will need to go to the license upgrade page here:

this upgrade path seems very confusing to say the least.
I bought my combination plugin and standalone license two weeks ago and it seems now it will cost me an additional 39€ for plugin upgrade to 2.0
but if had waited two weeks amd only bought it now it would have only cost me as much as I paid two weeks ago
needless to say I will wait for now
while I expect to pay for upgrades to software two weeks after I bought it seems a bit harsh.

You might try emailing Otoy support. Most other plugins had hit 2.0 (or came out at that version) when their promo period for the plugin upgrade ended. They may give you a discount or something. T_3 has no control over the licensing stuff, though, so asking them about it directly would likely be your best bet.

Wendy, I'm pretty sure you should be covered because of all the confusion over the development and the deadlines that slipped in Sept. It would seem very unfair after all that to expect recent customers like yourself to pay more for the v2 upgrade. As sikotik13 says, OTOY support should be able to help you.

Just to confirm, if we used the free licence upupgrade for the preview we still get the final build for no additional charge correct?

If you bought the upgrade for the v2 standalone during the period which included a free upgrade to a v2 plugin then the answer is "yes!"
