Hi Jaun,

I am working on a product visualization for a client, and I am using a displacement map to create the detail / relief on a sachet. The problem is that when I add both a displacement and a normal map, the object becomes tessellated (see attached). Currently I am using a single poly object, but if I subdivide the object, the tessellation just becomes more apparent. It's almost as if the smoothing gets turned off as soon as I connect the normal node.

I am using version 2.6.4 (September 25).

Any ideas, is this a bug / limitation in Octane itself~?

Thanks,
Carlo

As far I know, currently the displacement in Octane is not compatible with bump/normal mapping. Your best chance to render this kind of scenes, if you need both displacement and normal mapping, is to use the LighWave native displacement, that is compatible with Octane, and use the Octane shading only for the normal mapping.

Copy that, thanks Juan. I thought it may be that kind of issue.
