Today a Guy on twitter (Jon Bosley) posted that scan.co is lowering the price of Titan Z in half..
went there & seen something mind blowing! Titan Z is on SALE for ~1000 pounds!

now just consider EK water block for TitanZ - & You get, dual slot card with 2x GPUs..

..that means, in regular ATX box, with capable 4way mobo You can house four of them now!!!
That's 8GPUs!!! With few rads, You can get back the performance & that's simply a MONSTER!

as 780 (6gb) was a bargain & this becomes a new one..

& You still wonder how to get rid of heat? here's a solution:

What I feel nvidia is planing something special like TITAN2 or TITAN Z2 based on Maxwell.

knowing nVidia (I don't know it at all honestly =DDD).. my bold guess is that we'll see dual GM204 card for fraction of Zs original price (3000$), with like 20-30% more of performance =)

(more or less like they make with Kepler line.. presented 680 gk104 to follow 580 gf110 & then released 690..-Titan followed afterwards..- almost as a separate line of cards..) - My guess this scenario is going to be repeated! =) & we'll not see bigger brother based until GTC.. but I'd like to be wrong =)

it's a first time this card start making a sense with it's price - it should have been this way from beginning =) now I'd consider it somewhat attractive, three slots for Dual GPU - the performance is somewhat less than 2x Titans (& I don't talk about Blacks), but again.. - slap water block & You get dual slot card..- that's not even thiner, but also faster =) - so it should bring performance close to dual TitanBlacks out of the box! For dense systems that's a decent workhorse!

I am curious how well they overclock on water. If I remember well dual gpu cards were not as good as single gpu cards for overclocking (GTX 590 as an example). BTW my 780 6gb strix reaches 1300 mhz on core on stock volts. It failed just at 1320 mhz Fantastic card.

Still, I hope otoy will get us any conclusion if new 9xx series are really so slow, or it takes some adjusting in code on their part...

I am still holding on with the buy - waiting for this information and slowly I will have to go for it. So this is really good news, not only 6gb 780, now titan z looks like a viable option, possibility to extend the setup to 8gpus =) crazy.

This is indeed good news. Quick question. Can a 1200w psu handle a regular Titan + Titan z? Really considering this. Also would I have a overheating problem since I only have a Maximus vii hero MB?

One TITAN draws about 200W, so TITAN Z should draw no more than 400W. 1200W is way enough for 2xTITANs Z.

I think in some cases gk110 based cards (Titan, TitanBlack, 780, 780Ti) might draw more than 200W, Smicha, close to 300W..but yeah, TitanZ is optimised for lower draw (compared to two separate cards)..

1200W is more than enough for stable run, You need 6+8 pin for Titan(black) & 8+8 for TitanZ.

Talking about motherboard You have very good model with spacious layout. There's three slots between main PCIe connectors (red ones). This card is very stable, even with OCs - I've made a build on it's smaller sister/brother GENE (MATX version) for someOne & I haven't heard any problems since..

The the only thing that matters is Your case..If You have power supply (PSU) look whether the fan is facing up or down (some cases have one,other or possibility to choose both orientation). If You put TItanZ in the bottom red PCIe slot & Your power supply fan is facing up, You might have some problems as they fight each other for air & TitanZ might start to starve from fresh air keeping high temps wile rendering..

in short - case's airflow matters & talking a bit more about it I'd try to provide enough of it.. Titan(Black) will throw the heat out, while Titan Z will keep half of the heat in a case..if You have bad airflow that might cause some thermal throttling (lost performance).
