for those who are looking cheaper, yet bigger screen with good colours for a reasonable price (well not without it's own weaknesses)
here's a concluding thought on new pice from DELL via respectable tomsHardware http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/del ... 950-8.html (all Yu need to read is this one page, to understand a bit what happening in monitor market =)

Be careful with the 30 Hz 4K screens. I actually tried mine in 30 Hz mode, and everything looked extremely bad, even scrolling on webpages felt like a lagfest. So whatever you do, get a 60 Hz screen!

Yeah, 30Hz is no go for most..just depends..what are You using it for. I'd say if for prevue monitor, want better colour & maybe bigger screen size..well that might be a n option.. though for main screen less than 60Hz (& TN for me personally) is a no go =) but I guess EveryOne has their own preferences, so it's just info to feed Your brain Guys =)
Hi again guys,
Thanx again.. it really helps me lot in doing research and make up my mind.
I have almost decided choosing between
Iijama PROLITE B2888UHSU-B1 TN 28"519€
and
DELL up2414q IPS 24" 618€
Dell probably beats the Iijama in most specs, and price difference is too small to be the issue.
there are a few specs for Iijama that might be a pro to Dell:
28" (Dell 24")
1ms responsetime (Dell 8ms)
34,5watt powerconsuming (Dell 90watt)
Why I would go for Iijama PROLITE B2888UHSU-B1:
- if the 28" would me my main screen working on (but probably it will not be)
- low powerconsuming.. (but that is nothing compared to the GPU
- If I want 1ms responsetime; my current iiyama-prolite-b2403w has repsonsetime 2ms if I need quik responsetime (gaming?)
Why I would go for Dell up2414q :
- I do not need 28" as a third screen next to my current two 24" iiyama-prolite-b2403w
- 60Hz (Iijama is 30Hz on hdmi!)
- other reasons like IPS (better colors!)
So, it 'dell' be

To clear up the HDMI bit: HMDI is old. The Iiyama comes with a DisplayPort cable for 60 Hz. If you have a recent GPU you can hook it up no problem.
HDMI 1.4 can do 4K at 30 Hz.
HDMI 2.0 can do 4K at 60 Hz, but this is only brand new, starting the GTX 980 and GTX 970 cards.

Look, here's a 5K display: http://www.apple.com/imac-with-retina/
Oh wait.... there seems to be a computer attached to it. What a shame. Actually, it's not a half bad price for 5K display with good viewing angles. I might just get the thing and dump the computer bit (AMD graphics? Gmff.)
Next year will be an interesting year for affordable 4K+ IPS displays. Once they break the $1K barrier, it will be a landslide...

hehe, that's what I've said - angles are way better on IPS - even if You sit in front of computer & change Your positions, colours shift visibly..So let's say You're doing Your work & colleague comes: You try to show him & he will miss the point, 'cos probably he's seeing way different colours from his position =)
apples new screen uses old technology, but improved to enhance viewing angles..but overall basic TN panels are not on pair with IPS =) yes IPS cost more, but I think that the money spent wisely =)
