Hi Paul
Just trying to figure out how to get any dynamics to work with Octane.
I took a simple cube mesh and put dynamics on it then added a collision shape to the scene. The sim runs fine but Octane does not render the motion of the cube, it renders the cube and the collision object with no motion as I scrub through the frames.
If I go to a middle frame in the sim and hit the refresh button on the Octane window. Octane then reloads the scene and renders the cube in the current (correct) position in the simulation on the timeline.
I have tried baking the motion and the same thing happens.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith - have you checked out the manual page on this? http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Modo/?page_id=998.

Hi Paul
Yes I read and reviewed that and it never see's the motion from the sim. The cubes are always rendered at the first frame position.
If I bake the animation of the cubes to the timeline and delete the solver from the scene, Octane still does not see the motion of the cubes whether I preview or render out an animation.
Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith - could I trouble you to send me the scene pls? A pre-bake and post-bake version would be idea - then I can work out what the problem is. At a guess - I'd say the cube movement transform is not in the cube, but a parent perhaps - however the plugin forces a reload of all mesh item transforms (in world space) each frame, so that shouldn't be problem.

Hi Paul it was the live update geo setting again and the load all frames.
I really do think this should be on by default as it has bitten me a couple of times now.
When you have a sim with 1000 or more bits and you have to turn the live update on each time for every object your animating it's easy to make a mistake and not realize why something is not working, when your tired.
Just as a side note I downloaded the demo of the lightwave plugin and did a quick animation in lightwave and it worked as I expected. It was only after that I knew something was screwed up with my settings in modo with the plugin and went back to figure it out which took awhile cause I forgot about the live geometry up date and the load all frames.

Hi Keith - as per the other message thread, this is fixed in the next release of the plugin, which should be available prior to Monday.
