Hi everybody,
i'm glad to publish 2.12.2 version which is based on Octane sdk 2.12.1.
changes for 2.12.2
- Based on SDK 2.12.1
- New Gui layout, Octane dialog and Live Viewer can work as single windows. This mean that you will not need a Octane dialog for working in Live Viewer. Only advantages of Octane dialog should be that gpus can go very low TDR(minimal power usage). Also both window has a new "Gui" menu. This will let to do open icons and menus. You can check this thread for more details.
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=43374
- Many menu items are now as C4D Commands. So they can be called by shortcuts and placed to anywhere. You can find them in "Customize Commands...".
"Start Octane Render" will open and start a render in Live Viewer. Other commands should be familiar from octane menus.
- New option for LV. "Show alpha", this is a switch for background checkerboard.
- A few small fixes.
Check also Standalone 2.12.1 from here: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=43126

- R16 version
- Gradient texture fix on LiveDb downloads
- Fixes for broken materials in LiveDb
- Fix for opengl previews of Mix materials
- Fix for motion blur problem on Hypernurb, etc..
- Fix for nodegraph for reverse sizing and visual elements
- better support for some C4D shaders in standard materials
- support for axyz anima plugin
- New noise texture type
- Highlight compression parameter on camera imager
- Improvements on color correction node(saturation, hue, contrast)
- Fixes and improvements on Render Passes
- Checkerboard on LV for better alpha presentation
- Custom default environment color
- Luminance multiplier for luminance channel of C4D materials
- Static noise parameter on DL,PT kernels
- Fixed native render passes. Render Passes is accesible from Octane render settings. No need to use C4D multi-passes. Still have some missing features which are will be fixed on next release.
IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTES:
This version requires Nvidia driver 335.xx or newer(Cuda6.0).
Also matching version of Standalone 2.1x is highly recommended.
And remove all old plugin files before installing. Any version conflict or old drivers can cause crashes
Cuda driver for Macos: http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-cud ... river.html
Quick note for New Render Passes usage:
Not yet documented but, don't use C4D multi-pass system. Activate it from Octane render setting -> Renderpasses.
Some passes will not available on Picture Viewer. But it will be saved to hdd. I'll try to fix this issue soon.

I'll be happy, if anyone can be spesific with bug reports.
I need to know that plugin version/Os/HW, bugreport zip. Last operations before crashes.

Yes! People ask for something to be fixed and whammo!, two days later it's fixed. Gotta love it!
Edit*
Hair renders in picture viewer now in r16, but trying to use hair on emitters seem to crash Octane.

Yeah, like Vray4C4D. You ask for something and whammo! 2 years later it´s nearly fixed!
BTW, great update. Unbelievable what you are doing here, aoktar!
Hehehe, Exactly.
Thanks to Ahmed and OTOI team, this is excellent update. Keep it coming

Hellou ,
I think that I found some error. I have animation with 2500 samples and only first frame is rendered in that amount, second, third..... are rendered in 1400. I don't use overwrite kernel settings and it only happens when passes are turned on ( I have all passes turned on, booth beauty and info). Now I rendered without passes and everything works fine.
Cheers,

i'll check it soon. Maybe a problem with AO maxsamples or so.creatorz wrote:Hellou ,

Thanks for appreciations. These are really motivative for our. I'm trying to do every possible improvements. Any feedbacks will be much valuable.creatorz wrote:Hehehe, Exactly.Unread postby BLADE » Fri Oct 10, 2014 11:07 pm

Hello everyone, it's nice to see how your favorite render develops x) But I have a question which is connected somehow to this new update algoritm — I'm going to make a small render farm outside of my PC, in general, it should be a box with its own power supply and a pair of graphics cards. And it raises a question of how to connect these cards with my main PC? I think to use a PCIe to USB extenders like this:
But not sure about USB speed. How long it will take to send a geometry via PCIe x1? Would it work at all?
I'm sorry if this is off top. Can't delete it x(
