Hi!

Is there any way to use displacement on octane mix material inside C4D?

I tried to use displacement on one and both materials used in mix material and on the mix material itself but the displacement still doesn't show up.

Am I doing something wrong or this feature isn't supported in C4D?

Thanks :)

Hi,
For displacement with mixmaterial, you need to use only the displacement tab of the mixmaterial. Not displacement of inner materials. You need also to activate the checkbox of this displacement tab. By default, it's not activated.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't see any diplacement tab on mix material inside of c4d. There is only Amount, Material1, Material2. If i assign the displacement on the amount nothing happens.

Can you clarify this further?

I have managet to use diplacement on mix material in standalone but not in c4d :(

Indeed, if you double-clic on the material, you'll not see the displacement tab. But if you have a look at the attribute panel with the mixMaterial selected, you'll see a "Displacement" tab... ;) But you're right, it should be there with double-clic. Globally with Octane plugin, the attribute panel is more complete than material panel. If you don't find it in material panel by double-clic, it should be there in attribute panel.

Thank you very much. It's working now. I never edit materials from the attributes panel...that's why I didn't saw the extra options there.

Thanks again ;)

Hi there,

I'm jumping on this thread with a quick question about displacement in a mix material.
The displacement is apply on the mix itself, but what the procedure if I want the displacement only on one of the two material I have in the mix?

Thanks

As far as i know, it's not possible to drive this because displacement accepts only bitmaps (or C4D shaders baked on the fly, it's the same). Then you can't use node structure to drive the Displacement. To only thing you can do is to modify your displacement map.
