if You have enough PCIe slots & power to feed these two beasts I see no problem running them together. Just plug Your monitor into Titan =) so it would not eat somewhat 300mb of Your vram from smaller card =)
use 480 for screen, use titan at full power
that's probably the best idea, if You don't have a 4k Monitor (as You could not plug it into 480 =)

How does the gtx 480 perform against the Titan?
My guess would be about 50% slower?

but will find out later today when i get it hookt up

You can't hook up that monitor on 480 I believe from sight at specifications on nvidias site =).. so You're left to plug monitor into Your TitanBlack. Just remember if You're going to render with both cards You'll get better render times, but lower maximum available gram, as scene should fit into both cards (& You're limited by smallest amount of gram, that sits on Your 480). So if You get some problems that scenes don't fit simply disable 480 & do all the work on TitanB.
