Hi,
When I use materials that contain textures, they turn to pure black (sometimes). This is also the case when I change the HDRI. Here, it's all black. Is this is a known issue?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Had the same thing tschwenke. I'm still trying to reproduce this reliably. It happened on some skins where the cornea turned black with some reflection. I found the reason. It was the alpha channel. It was not defined (no value set) and this will not translate well to the Octane render. Looks as if the plugin assumes that if alpha is not defined, then it is set to 100%. I was able to workaround this problem by setting an alpha value of 0.
Can you try to explain your problem in more detail?

I had this problem with some skins and the DAZ plugin and discovered that during translation opacity had been set to zero on some translated materials. Not sure if that applies in this case or whether that's the same as the alpha channel in Carrara.

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
No, this cannot be the reason because materials worked fine beforehand. Whenever I import a model or change the HDRI, strange things happen. Either the material turns black or materials change textures. Then, material 1 has the same texture as material 2. This is real Beta

Where do you see this issue? In Carrara or in the Octane Viewport? Are you using Carrara shaders or Octane shaders. You mentioned that it happens when you import a model. Is it your model or a commercial one? If it is yours can you PM it to me, if not can you tell me which one it is and where you got it. I can't fix or explain it if I can't repeat it.tschwenke wrote:Hi,

Hi,
Great to have feedback here.
Please find below the first video. It deals with the problem of HDRI change. It all turns black when I switch to HDRI.

The second video deals with consolidating shaders. It seems that the problem applies only to shaders with image textures. Furthermore, you can see materials that are rendered in pure black. These are also materials with textures. Another video is on the way.

Here is the last video. You can see that it turns black again as soon as I hit the "rebuild" button at the end of the video.
