I'm brand new to Octane and am having a smoothing issue when importing an obj into my scene. The object loads unsmoothed with low poly meshes when I exported it smoothed. I can get the object loaded smoothed if I up the subDs or freeze the geometry, but that comes with a price. I would think I wouldn't have to take this step every time I need to bring a mesh into Octane. It could be something as simple as a check box or modifying my preferences, but I can't find much info on the subject.
I'm using OctaneRender 2.06 and exporting from modo 801.
Standalone import obj

what do you mean by smooth?
can you post a screen?
If you have it smooth in modo, it should come in smooth in Octane as long as the material itself has "smooth" checked off.

freeze your subdiv. levels in modo and then export to obj. - as you see you've imported lower res. obj.

Ok, thanks for the feedback.
I was thinking I could just import the mesh without having to freeze the geometry, but I guess the smooth is just a "preview". Not a big deal, I was hoping for a quick export obj to import obj without having to do anything with the mesh.
