Are there planned improvements to the SSS material?

I've been working with the SSS a lot lately and although it works fine for basic SSS needs, but some of the more complicated materials I've tried to create, it has been problematic. Considering the addition of SSS material is pretty new still, is it still considered somewhat limited in functionality or am I just not well enough practiced with octane's materials to create the things I'm having problems with?

One example of something I'm having issues with is a semi transparent, metallic, bright yellow plastic the is sort of a satin finish with a high gloss coat applied (it's a plastic material used for a bottle cap) I've tried doing this using a few materials mixed together but I'm just not finding anything that works.

Just trying to figure out if the downfall is in my method/understand Of the material or if there are known limitations to the current SSS material that will be improved in upcoming versions. Thanks for your help!

The SSS in Octane is really good, but it needs to be combined with other materials in a mix node to achieve a wider variety of materials. I'm not sure what type of material are you trying to replicate, you should post a reference photo of it.

Ok, maybe that's where i'm going wrong then. i tried to do that a bit, but it felt like the wrong approach, so I didn't pursue it further. Here's an image of the material i'm trying to make. I'm pretty new to ocatane, so really i just need one good explanation or sample material so that I can understand the approach to use in Octane render. I'm kinda blindly guessing right now. Seems like it should be pretty straight forward to create but i'm not having luck....Thanks for any direction you can give me!

I think glossy with some texture in specular or roughness channel would do it - doesn't look a lot like it should use SSS.. most of the time I thought I needed SSS I end up using glossy..
