I'm having real problems when scenes such as 'Country Lane' by HowieFarkes are loaded into Carrara. Carrara slows to a crawl. I'm not sure why this is happening because I have a relatively fast processor and 16 GB RAM. On the same system I can load very large scenes into DAZ Studio with no problems. Smaller scenes in Carrara work fine. How can I adjust Carrara so that it can handle larger scenes? ATM I can only do the bare minimum but at least the plugin is working ok with them so far. I'm using the latest version of Carrara v8.5 and the plugin.
System specs:
Win 7 x64 (latest updates)
16GB RAM
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
nVidia GTX 780 (latest drivers)
Carrara v8.5
I’ve tried lowering settings in the interactive render pane but it doesn’t help. Using OpenGL not software.

Hi Spectralis,
This seems to be an issue exclusive to Carrara 8.5, as I too have encountered the EXACT same problems with howie Farkes scenes in this version of Carrara.
As a side note they work Perfectly in Carrara 8.1, so something in 8.5 is broken in relation to these scenes.
As yet I have found no work around for it.
Cheers,
S.K.

Thanks for the replies. I've found that switching off the trees helps a lot but then it's not possible to adjust them. I wonder what changes were made to 8.5 to cause this problem? No one seems to have fixed either Carrara or these scenes yet.
