Material Limit? Maya 2.04

Yeah it started doing it again

I recreated a lot of the materials only using the 2.04-4.5 plug in, and the new materials I make are getting mixed up and rendering other materials on those object. I'm just getting the same problem I was before and this was a scene I brought in as just Geo no material data or texture data.
This time it's only 39 materials other than the 50 something I had in my last scene. I know this could be a lot of things but I'm still wondering if there is a texture data limit?
I don't understand what you mean by this...jnuno_ wrote:the new materials I make are getting mixed up and rendering other materials on those object
Firstly - I need a more detailed explanation of "what you do and what you get" this time. And secondly - I still need some scene (even some simplified one) where you have this issue to be able to reproduce it and fix it (if it is the plugin's issue). As nobody else has reported something similar - so it seems it may be something with your scene...
The maximum amount of Octane nodes (all nodes, including textures, mediums, etc...) - is close to 65000. Unlikely that you have such total amount of nodes in your 50 materials...
In addition: you can make some easy check of the scene to see if it is the 65000 nodes restriction issue. Just copy the current 2.04-45 scene where you have started to get these troubles with materials to other file, then delete from this test-scene a half of the meshes (not touching the materials at all), and then start the Octane IPR. Are the materials rendered OK on the remained geometry after that?
Sorry for not being clear enough on this thread. Here is the process. Here is pretty much step by step;JimStar wrote:I don't understand what you mean by this...jnuno_ wrote:the new materials I make are getting mixed up and rendering other materials on those object

I brought in the scene about 2mill quads (only geo with no material or texture node data)and added a simple sun/sky light node and another light node all in the 2.04 plug in.
One by one I started creating materials for the separate assets in the scene. Putting in our textures (.tga) using the Octane image texture node into Diffuse, Spec, Roughness, and Normal for every glossy/default material. Every material had these nodes filled. Also all of our textures are pretty high res being in the 2k and 4k area.
I continued to create more materials and apply them to the objects until I ran into the problem I started this thread with. It dose not render the scene in IPR mode or regular render mode until I replace some object materials with a simple diffuse gray material, Then it will usually start rendering again. But I cant move on from there.
Another huge thing that happens is when I try to make more materials after this point the material previews in the hypershade start to get jumbled up. It's a little hard to explain (I've attached an image)but in the material preview it starts to show other textures or it will show the normal map in the diffuse and the diffuse in the spec etc. it also changes when I refresh or reload the texture, but the path is correct and dose not change.
In the Maya view port the textures look fine, but when I render, it renders the material the way it's shown in the material preview if that makes any sense. Another thing that happens is that some materials get switched in the renders so some objects will have the floor material on it instead of the material that was applied or it will be switched with another material.
JimStar wrote:Have you tried the experiment I described above (deleting a half of meshes in the test scene)?
Sorry I was out sick just got back in. I just tried it and it did render after I deleted some assets.
A thing I noticed is that the material issue doesn't really happen until I try to render for the first time.
OK, try please if this version fixes your issue.jnuno_ wrote:I just tried it and it did render after I deleted some assets.

Just downloaded the new plug in sadly it did not work right out of the box. Would I have to recreate the materials?
Also it dose render when I hide the objects instead deleting them.
The material issue continues to happen after I've initiated a render. It only happens to about 3 of the materials in the preview.
But when I un-hide the objects and try another render it actually DOSE render but with the materials totally messed up and on the wrong meshes.
This is only happening on some meshes and it's completely random every time I've tried to recreate it.
