Hi beinsportsonline,

You need Octane Standalone version to match plugin version.
So solution is to update your standalone to 2.0.6 and reconfigure network rendering.

You can only connect to render slave from one render master at the same time. So, if Maya is already run and you've started the batch render from it - the batch is run in other process which tries to connect the slave already occupied by main Maya process.
If you need to batch render the scene using network rendering - close Maya and run the batch render from the context menu of the scene file in explorer window.

Sorry for noobie question but could somebody explain this or make an example, please?

Thanks!

for Mauriko,

it's too easy my friend, just set up the render settings and close maya.
then right click on the scene file then click on render, that it :)

I don't have a Render context menu for my Maya 2015 or 2106. What is the workaround?

Thanks,

Posting this to "help" future searchers:

I never got an answer to this here. Sent an email to tech support who said it was best answered by people in New Zealand in "2-3 days" which is, of course, and eternity in production time. I never heard from them at all, anyway, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

I ended up buying an additional seat not only of standalone, but also of the Maya plug-in, and just running a completely separate Octane environment to run renders independent of my main workstation. Barring some serious changes to way issues and customer relations are handled, pretty sure those are my last Octane purchases!

Thanks!

_Mike
