I was wondering if there is anybody here that has tried to use the onboard graphics card on the newer processors, like the haswell i7-4770K. I have a machine with 4 titans in it, and I was wondering if I could use the on board gpu as the one that handles the desktop, and dedicate the others for octane, if it had a cpu with gpu on it. The machine wont be doing anything else than octane rendering, so no problem with the bad 3D performance.

I currently don't have a haswell cpu, so I cannot try this myself.

Anybody tried using the built in gpu in a similar setup?

Hi, Gardeler.

I run iGPU from 3570k in my Octane rig without any problems. So, if You're thinking about going this route jump in. On a heavy models in max iGPU lacks, but for Octane scenes these are perfect.. I went this route when there wasn't any "priority" box inside preferences & owning one card was painful. Even with Multi GPU rigs (if You don't need serious CPU power for other tasks) I'd always recommend to go with Z97/Z87/Z77 etc. & CPU with iGPU inside. As long as You're not expecting anything extraOrdinary from it, it's just fine.

Hi Glimpse,

I also own a i5-3570K on Z77 mother board.
How do I set it up with Octane so that my GTX770 is used for rendering and my iGPU for display?

Thnx in advance,

Ramon

In the bios set to enable - not auto - the integrated graphics and give some ram. After that connect your monitor to the motherboard. Thats all.

On linux this rig not works because of some libs.
