I just got two Titan Blacks a couple months ago, and now I got some longer term work where I can't use Octane. Grrr.

think that's not bad at all.. wouldn't be surprised to see 8Giggers surfacing around 1k$..(much like Titans did when they came)..
but I know that feeling, I've bought 670 4g (at that time value card with a lot of vRAM, when 4GB was the top) & Titan came =)

I think 780s are a screaming deal right now. And I keep noticing minor price cuts almost every week. I'm going to be buying one new one every month till my other 3 pcie slots are filled up...
