I was there, trying with LW, FPrime and Maxwell render engines...
Buddy, your simply test got better results than mines, with a more realistic light.

Here is my run with some simple materials, no texturemaps. Hope [gk] don't mind for hijacking his thread:) hehe

10286 samples, nearly 4 hours on my 8800gt.

BTW is it possible to raise the sample limit and continue rendering from this point.

i think what he is talking about would mean increasing the sliders but not restarting the render-progress, right?

Also it would be good for animation, you set to 512 samples make a preview and then increase the samples ;)
