Hello.
I was just trying to export a scene in Maya to use in the standalone version of Octane (both plugin and standalone are version 2.04, Maya is 2014). I have an animated scene. The scene export works, but upon opening in Octane asks for a .obj which was not exported.
The alembic export actually does nothing but generate a file of less than 1 KB. Using the Pipeline Cache alembic export in Maya, I get a file of 15 MB and it works really well to import into Octane Standalone.
Can anyone confirm that the alembic export (in File > Export All.. > OctaneRender alembic) actually works ??
@JimStar, this is happening with the same file I have already sent you. Can you export as alembic using the Export All.. Menu and open it in Octane?
Alternatively, do you have an explaination how to get the focus distance to be correct when exporting as an Alembic using Pipeline Cache? Thread is here: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=41701
Thank you.

Yes of course I have and it works (almost).
But I mean if I have an "Octane Alembic" export option, then it should work, right!?
The problem with the Alembic from Pipeline Cache is that the focus distance is not correct and there is no way to correct for it in the standalone (at least that I am aware of). Even the aperture cant be changed in the standalone, even if it isnt animated in maya.
I have the camera target of the Octane Camera in Maya at exactly where I want the focus, but when I open the alembic in the standalone the focus is somewhere else. Refocusing works in the standalone, but as soon as I render the animation it goes back to whatever focus distance it is getting from the alembic and its not correct. Maybe I am not doing the whole focus point thing right, because surely I have to be able to set the focus distance and target point seperately (eg. to have the focus somehwere other than the center of the frame)!?
Has anyone had succes getting the correct focus distance from an Alembic exported from Pipeline Cache in Maya and stay the same in the standalone?
Thanks!
