hi everyone, thank you for airing your views. We would like to be clear that since the v2.x Blender plug-in was not released during the promotion we will still honor that plugin upgrade voucher if someone uses it for the blender plugin when it becomes available.

Note that the promo was for a ' free plugin upgrade voucher' but in effect, you get a chance to upgrade a plugin for free. So if you have a voucher then you may choose to use the voucher at a later date to upgrade a plugin of your choice provided that the plugin already existed in your account prior to the standalone upgrade. We truly appreciate your comments and should you have further issues please don't hesitate to write to our support channel.

The Blender plugin is almost there and we will be rephrasing our shop page for the Blender plugin v2.x release very soon. Stay tuned...

I'm "only" a hobbyist ... so for me it works and I can wait a little. Not too long, though :) Blender integration is okay. Perfect? No, but that's also a problem on Blenders side .. I guess some of the integration could be made easier for plugin writers. Things that aren't perfect are stuff like the Blender material etc nodes, that can not be used by Octane, but are still present in the selections. Or there's mechanisms Octane simply can't handle, like multiple UV Maps, but are present in Blender. Or parts of the particle system, that require volumetric materials handled by the internal Blender engines and not possible with Octane. I wish it wasn't so :) But that's not all the plugions fault, it's also Blenders (that internal volumetric material stuff is not exactly transparent and intuitive for instance).

I asked two weeks ago about changing plugin here: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 46#p196946

Most of the users ask for v2.0 plugin. I ask for v1.5 on OSX. When Octane launched it advertised as multiplatform with support of Blender. There is no official solution on OSX. Without Lionel and Matej i cant use a lot of features on OSX. I dont want to switch os because i spent a lot of money for another tools which runs on only on Mac.

I have some possibility to buy Lightwave on a very good price. Can i switch my Blender plugin to Lightwave if i pay the difference between the two price?

Get lightwave for 200$? :)

I played with the lightwave trial but didn't like it. I would buy Modo around Christmas time. They give huge discounts then on toolfarm.

Now as far as v2.0 it's cool to know that's close. But please do it properly this time unlike 1.+

There is a lot of other options like expansionbox or older mac with newer card and the hackintosh way...

Another option an Otoy announcement about they drop the OSX support. The standalone

Student commercial license is 200$. So that's indeed cheap.

But for 350 euros just wait and get modo.

Student commercial version means full commercial version at student friendly prices. But you need to be a student as well.

Anyway looking forward for the 2.0 for blender. :)
