Is octane plugin 2.0 faster at refreshing meshes

Is octane plugin 2.0 faster at refreshing meshes than 1.5. and will the texture files you exported in 1.5 open up in 2.0.
I'm planning on upgrading next week

I think they are the same.

Yes - although if you exported with 1.20 of the plugin, the teturemap scales may but incorrect if they are not scaled to 100%. If you exported with 1.21 onwards, they will be 100% compatible,
