Can't say this is the best, but for the cost of a z97 4-way gpu support mobo the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC LGA 1150 Z97 (under $170 atm) is pretty tempting to me if I were to do an upgrade now. From there the boards skyrocket to $200-300+ and up ... just sayin

MSI Z97 XPOWER AC would be the choice, this board support quad PCIE 3.0 running at x8 bandwidth. cost around 400 USD at a retail in Taipei ;)

The Asus P9X79-E WS supports 4x GPUs at x16 link speed. Won't find that many places. A few LGA1150 boards can do 4x8, but otherwise it goes down to 4x4.

There's no good/ideal board just those that fit Your needs ant those that don't.
Without knowing Your budget, needs & other things it's hard to recomend anything.

p.s. Force is a nice one, but there's cheeper model, if You're not using it in open case scenario
other thing to note that last slot works at 4x, while 3others (16x mechanical) works at 8x..
,so it's beter to use the last one for something like PCIe SSD isntead of GPU (in my eyes).

boards with simillar layout & features will 'cos around 200, with PLX probably ~300 & more..
if this is not enought You have apossibility to step for other platform (probably worth to wait for X99)

..but again, without knowing what You need & what is Your budget..nothing to say.

Thanks guys for the valuable input. I really appreciate it.
Actually I'm planning to build a descent GPU system which is good enough to handle hi-res still rendering, as I learned from this forum that the more GPU you can get would be save your render time. otherwise I'm looking for a new mobo system like Z97(currently) or Z99 (not sure when it will be on the market), since i'm not really tech expert regarding hardware. I've set my budget limit around 4K-5K for just the system only.
Any hints? ;)

I'm with Riggles on this one. I also have the Asus P9X79 E-WS. It allows for future GPU expansion as well.

With your budget though, you can also look at the Z9PE-D8 WS from Asus. It allows for dual CPUs. It's gonna depend on your other (non-gpu) requirements whether you'll need such a beast or not, but some 3D & graphics apps can be real cpu intensive, not to speak of high-end BIM & point-cloud stuff.

Finally, if you're not in a mad rush, it's worth looking into chipset features and what the next gen will offer regarding PCI lanes etc. Might be worth the wait. Anandtech.com is a great source.

Best,
