more than 4K x 4X resolution ?

I want to render more than 4K x 4K resolution scene.
But if I enter more than 4K, it change to 4K.
Is there any remedy for this?

I think it's an hardware limitation inherent to the GPU, but I might be wrong...

Have you entered more than 4K at Mesh Preview Resolution?

yep and it does the same as you, snapping back to 4096.
Maybe tesla's or quadros can go higher (8192)?

My 5800 snaps back to 4k :(

I'm running Octane on 2x GTX470 and my video memory is always only barely enough for simple scenes rendered as 4k pics with a few hi-res textures on the model.

Coming from the advertising-print camp, I know that there is a huge market out there for people rendering at 8k or more. (Just did a 12k render for a coca-cola billboard and had to revert to Maxwell. Boy, let me tell u: it took ages ;p )

I think, knowing the limitations of GPU memory, refractive software could gain a proper foothold in the print industry if they'd only come up with a built-in mechanism to tile-render the final render. I've certainly used similar scripts in Mental Ray and VRay, and I don't know if that's possible with physically-unbiased renders, but I'm sure you guys can figure it out :)

you can always render several images and stitch them together in one in minutes so perfect like never been possible in real life :)

Sure you could manually stitch them together. However, in its current form, you would have trouble with the proper placement of the cameras (which i think will be easier once we got saveable cameras in octane). What's not so easy to fix is the fact that you won't have similar lighting results from each tile, due to MLT ... or so I've heard (right, Radiance?).

So I think if we want to have the option of render outputs above 4k, it's a feature that has to be built in from inside the render engine.

You got savable mesh position, light position, camera position and resolution from the scripts.
It should be a simple task to render a 10k image with this approach.
Try the solution out.
You might need to modify the scripts for your need, I can look into making a modified version but not in this week.

You can hit render in 3dsmax for example, let octane render all tiles and let a commandline stitcher do it automaticly for you.
