Hi all,

I'm new with Octane and on the forum. In order to learn and have feedback I will share with you a WIP on my personnal project : Dr.Wayne.
It's based on the awesome concept of Johnson Ting calls “Dr.Wayne”.


So, I'm using Octane on Maya. I will started lighting soon, but for now here is a viewport screenshot for present you the project.

So after 1 week working with Octane, I finally like it.

Here a render with simple lighting in order to show the arm modeling.

I also start to make a rough lighting of the main scene and try a quick comparison between Vray and Octane.
1 HDRI, 2 AreaLight and on simple glossyShader.

Is that jacket sculpted? That's some solid work there. Do you have more?

Yes it's the Jacket of the character, with first lighting placement en shader tweak. I will try to post more before going on vacation. ;)

Thank you for your positive feedback but unfortunately I'm not going to finish this, at least not image with Octane.

Although I had a very great pleasure and very positive about Octane, but it still lacks too many vital functions to complete my rendering.
Such as impossibility of a set a "Smooth Level on Render" or limitations of video memory with many poly are a real blockage.
Also with my poor video card I can't get a higher size than this image.

I will complete this project in Arnold continuing to closely follow the development of the Maya plugin.
